Got this from the library recently and it is incredible. Cannot possibly recommend it highly enough. Parts of it are heartwrenching. I think the visual aspect is used really well here. Every evening I read one of the issues before bed and feel transported to a very dark perspective on what it is like to live under a modern occupation. It was published in 2001 and detailed the author’s experiences in 1991. You connect with these characters and their stories. Then realize this was 30 years ago and many of them, if they made it this far, would have been obliterated in the insane horror that somehow dwarfs what is depicted in the novel. The novel is set during the first intifada where 1200 Palestinians died over a couple of years. That’s now only a few days in Gaza.

Also interesting is that at the time the major factions were Fateh and the PFLP, with Hamas being very much in the background.
