If you plan to travel internationally it is a good idea to take a burner phone

Half the concern is what they take off of your phone but the other half is what they leave behind. A burner should at least help with that.

depending on your power levels, you can be denied entry by the intention to hide something from good people of the border

They can just take your phone like that? And if I don’t unlock it, then what?

It’s good advice, but just know if you’re on a watch list and they have people waiting for you, they also probably have people going through your home to look for your belongings. If that’s your threat level, maybe leave the phone with someone you trust.

“Woah woah woah, this sounds scary, authoritarian, and racist. But really, we’ve already tried sending Israel billions of dollars of weapons and scolding them for using the weapons, while sending more weapons and we’re just plum out of ideas! So now we’re just asking everyone who comes through if they have any ideas about what we should do over there.”

This is just like the Stasi!!!

Man the Stasi might be my biggest “There’s actually zero difference between good and bad things. You imbecile. You fucking moron.” thing. Like actually “secret police” whose job is to root out fascism and the remnants of Naziism are fundamentally different from “secret police” whose job is to protect Capital.

Not to mention West German intelligence was literally build by the CIA out of remnants of nazi agencies, and had some real hits in their career like protecting Stepan Bandera when he and his thugs murdered over 100 people in there.

History is a flat circle.

Hell, German intelligence were knee deep in the NSU murders and that shit was in the 2000s.

On top of that, they really were used as a way to gauge the sentiment of the people. They did actual, normal “information gathering”. And even then, the Stasi had nowhere near the information on you that Google and Facebook do now.

But yeah, unless you were a fascist, a capitalist reader, or a suspected western intelligence asset, you basically had nothing to worry about.

Asking whether or not he supports Hamas wasn’t part of the interrogation. More of a compulsive greeting.

“Morning, neighbor, do you condemn Hamas?”

Was it JoJo Rabbit or some other anti-Nazi media that lampooned “Heil Hitler” by having all the characters greet each other with it? I’m imagining that, but you greet each other with “I condemn Hamas, Robert.” “Morning, Steven, I also condemn Hamas.”
