Carnegie Library, Washington D.C. (“now known as the Apple Carnegie Library”)

Was noodling around looking at DC buildings and found this. I don’t think you could do this in the UK; such a building would be Grade I/II listed, and although you could apply to make alterations you almost certainly wouldn’t get approval for something like this. This is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

I like how they completely rebuilt the steps, and still didn’t bother to add wheelchair accessibility.
