Texas has the stupid honor of being the only US state to revolt for slavery twice, once against Mexico in 1836, and then again from the US in 1861. It was entirely for slavery. The only reason Texas exists is a bunch of slavers took advantage of Santa Anna being one of the dumbest pieces of shit in human history.

the confederate flag continues to be flown at the capitol building because Texas is diseased and should be immediately broken apart please

sorry I’m back home from seeing relatives and I hate their stupid misplaced pride in nothing. i’ll calm down after I have a nap

Texas is proud of it’s dumbass colonizers drawing it’s lines bigger than the others, it’s “”“revolution”“” and generally upholding American settler-colonialism as it’s bread and butter to a degree unseen elsewhere.

Man, fuck Texas.

The capitol building is surrounded by confederate monuments that were all erected between 1910 and like 1930 when presumably the last of those who experienced the war began to die.

As an aside, I was in GA recently and only just now noticed that they refer to the Civil War as the War Between the States which is some bullshit Lost Cause stuff

in my middle school the war was referred to as either the War of Northern Aggression or some variation of the War for State Rights

one of my cousins was homeschooled and had textbooks claiming the war never ended and simply resulted in a northern occupation of the poor oppressed southern states

this just isn’t fair. Texas has really cool natural landmarks, nice food and cool music scenes and yet it’s filled with these people

Really wish I had a time machine to go back and let my kid self know to ask ‘States right to what?’. When my teacher said some people were fighting for states rights.

I did ask that once in middle school and the teacher’s answer was “to enforce our own destiny.” I’m sure if I asked what she meant by destiny, it would have been something equally circular and obtuse like “to decide things for ourselves.” Slavery can never be addressed by these people because they know themselves too well. They’ll endorse slavery.
