That happened yesterday on the 21st.

Konev’s front broke through Army Group Center on April 20th, and Soviet forward units entered Berlins southern suburbs in the morning hours of April 21st.

No, it was an accident. The Stavka initially wanted to wait another month or two to complete preparations, but the “Race for Berlin” forced them to expedite plans since the Americans broke through the Rhine and Ruhr much faster then expected.
