Good Bye, Lenin! (2004) - In The German Democratic Republic, the world’s coolest mom tragically falls into a coma. While she is unconscious, Good Germany sadly falls to revisionism and becomes really shitty. When she wakes up, her son has to create a fake world for her where the GDR still exists and capitalism hasn’t sadly triumphed, or else she will die from the shock. Touching, sad, and funny movie.

Since it looks like we’re holding off on Halloween recommendations for now, I’ll suggest: Kung Fu Panda 2, the best of the trilogy.

Related to my other comment, a great double feature with Ed Wood is of course Plan 9 From Outer Space , a 1957 film considered one of the worst of all time. Shot on a shoestring budget, it’s actually very entertaining.

House (1977) - Maybe the best-regarded Japanese horror film of all time. Excellent choice for spooky month.
