is anyone else really tired of urban planning videos? they were cool for a year or so when the topic was new to everyone, now there’s thousands of people making the exact same videos about induced demand, bike lanes, etc.

Yes. I started on the topic by reading strong towns articles, moved on to YouTube. Read a few books. I feel like I’ve learned all I need to on the broad strokes of the topic and unsubbed from Not Just Bikes.

I do still follow Alan Fisher though because he covers specific projects and gives calls to action.

I earnestly, just this very moment, learned that Philosophy Tube and ContraPoints aren’t the same woman doing bits for an hour for their 10 minutes of content.

Sorry, I don’t care how good the rest of the video is, casual denigration of resistance to genocide is an immediate turnoff. Also I’ve had enough of these infrastructure influencers

Breadtube if it didn’t suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It’s open submission unless there’s something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it’s currently in.
