Is The Boys worth a watch or is it just stupid superhero slop?
It shits all over the superhero slop. Itโs ok, but the story deviates strongly from the comics.
Is it like the Watchmen comic books? I read it a long time ago and I didnโt get it at that point but Iโve read that itโs supposed to be critical of superhero culture.
One of its main plot points is that superheroes are been run by a huge corporation for profit, and thereโs ample exploration of that theme.
And most superheroes are either straight up evil or crazy with power, money and fame.
It does some interesting things, and is worth watching the first season (which is probably the best one). After that, it feels like the show gradually drops in quality. My main problem is that it focuses less and less on the above issues, and focuses more and more on personal drama, which just feels like filler.
That seems like a trend with contemporary TV shows where there is zero desire to properly conclude a story and they just publish as mny seasons as possible.
I have watched the first three episodes today and its really fun. I think Iโll finish the season.
