It’s fine if the dunk tank doesn’t want to be a place where we get mad at insignificant reactionary nerds, I love that for them. But for those of us who LIKE getting mad at insignificant reactionary nerds, we need a containment zone for those kinds of posts, otherwise folks are just going to get shit removed from dunk tank / cth / main all the time.

Enter, chapodunkhouse. It’s exactly the same as the dunk tank, except we can keep dunking on folks whose opinions don’t matter to anyone who matters.

I think the rules should be:

Rule 1: All posts must include links to the subject matter, and no identifying information should be redacted.

Rule 2: If your source is a reactionary website, please use archive.is instead of linking directly.

Rule 3: No sectarianism.

Rule 4: TERF/SWERFs Not Welcome

Rule 5: No ableism of any kind (that includes stuff like libt*rd)

Rule 6: Do not post fellow chapos.

Rule 7: Do not individually target other instances’ admins or moderators.

Anyway I’m happy to mod this with anyone else who wants to mod this, including any of the mods of the dunk tank since they already are doing a great job moderating it outside of the new Rule 8.

Also yes this is a serious comm request I’m not shitposting. I like dunking on random libs and I know lots of others do too.

c/CTH is a general shitposting comm and isn’t a space for dunking on bad takes. The goal of the rule change for c/T_D_T is to reduce low hanging fruit posts so we’re not just getting mad at fake stuff or one random dude posting garbage into the void.

Where would something like this get posted, or would it not be allowed on the site any more?

Not allowed on the site for at least a couple days. Smh someone just posted it. /joke

But seriously, that would still be allowed here. Tesla doofuses are a form of Actually Existing Idiocy. Again, we’re actually just trying to reduce the dunking on random anonymous posters who say weirdo shit nobody agrees with and have no audience. If they have an audience or it’s a somewhat common take, that should continue to be allowed.

We have better wording!

I elaborated more on this in the actual rule change thread, but could we have an exception for dunking on posts and comments in close proximity to Hexbear? Like shitty posts on federated instances wherein some chud or lib is either mentioning Hexbear or posting a direct reply to a Hexbear user? Most of the instances we’re federated are small enough that they’d probably never cross the threshold into whatever number of upvotes is required, but they’d still be a ton more relevant to dunk on than a random nobody on another site entirely.

I feel allowing this is in Hexbear’s best interest considering it makes chud and libs think twice about whether it’s worth posting chud shit on our federation network.

EDIT: Looks like this idea was approved! Thank you based Hexbear mods!

Well, your comments have me feeling a lot more optimistic about things. I look forward to the rewritten rule. As is, it made me worry that a large part of the dunk tank would be banned (when I feel like there’s a fairly small amount of bait/nonsense to be removed).

would a top level comment that clarifies things be recommended by mods? cuz i think the rule changes are alright i am just pretty confused since i might not know if a specific individual is being dunked on or an ideology or smth
