I think Israel fully expects the US to commit forces to a fight against Hezbollah and bail them out, especially if it looks like they might lose. Despite some PR hand-wringing, Biden has been fully behind Israel so far and seems like a true believer in the zionist project. I could see how they’d do the math and see this as their best shot to get the US to fight Hezbollah for them.
I wouldn’t make that bet with how the Ukraine war is going, but who knows?
